Booking Guidelines

Clear terms so there are no surprises later.

Please read these guidelines before booking a shipment. They cover packing, liability, deposits, claims, and how we handle storage and payment at port.

Why we have booking guidelines

Freight moves through ports, customs, and third-party hands. These guidelines exist to keep your shipment safe, your expectations realistic, and our service consistent for every customer. By booking with Jallow Transporters, you confirm you've read and accepted these terms.

01

Customers must pack and protect all freight

All goods must be packed, sealed, wrapped, and protected by the customer before handover. Items submitted unpacked or inadequately protected may be refused at collection.

02

Minor scratches and dents are not covered

Minor cosmetic damage such as small scratches and dents that occur during normal handling and transit are not covered under our liability terms.

03

No liability for unprotected goods

If goods have not been properly packed and protected by the customer, Jallow Transporters Ltd accepts no liability for damage in transit.

04

Send pictures of all goods

Customers must send clear photographs of all goods to Jallow Transporters before shipment. This protects both parties and supports any future claims process.

05

Provide the collection & delivery address

Customers must supply the full collection address (where freight is to be picked up) and the destination delivery address before booking is confirmed.

06

Storage fee after 10 days at port

A storage fee of £3 per day applies if freight is not collected within 10 days of arrival at the destination port. This covers warehousing and yard fees we incur on your behalf.

07

Label all freight with recipient contact details

Every item, box, barrel, or pallet must be clearly labelled with the recipient's name and a contactable phone number. Unlabelled freight may be delayed or held at port until ownership is verified.

08

Minimum deposit required to confirm booking

A minimum deposit is required to confirm and reserve space on a container or air freight load. Bookings are not held without deposit.

09

Maximum claim of £200 — within 1 year

The maximum claim payable for loss or damage to freight is £200. All claims must be submitted in writing within 12 months of the shipment date, with supporting evidence (photos, receipts, packing list).

10

Glass and screens are not covered

We do not accept responsibility for any glass items, including televisions and screens. In the event of damage in transit, only the shipping fee for the affected item will be refunded — the value of the item itself is not covered.

11

Payments due on container arrival, not after clearance

All outstanding balances must be cleared on arrival of the container at the destination port. Payment cannot be deferred until after customs clearance.
